The Antibes and Denebola

$2,400.00

Acrylic on canvas, 30” High. x 40” wide. Unframed. Painted by Ingrid McCoy 2023. These two ships are docked outside my home in Baltimore on the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, MD. I have kayaked around them, watched the workers moving supplies on and off them, right now I see rain pouring off their decks. How can I NOT paint these beasts?! On a hot summer day, last July I went onto my rooftop deck and painted them painted them. This is called “plein air” painting. The natural light caught the lights and darks. I have emotional responses to my subjects and get a feeling of connection with the colors and brushstroke. I am not goin gfor perfection when I paint, but rather for reaction. The ochres, blue greens and yellows show the joy and excitement I fell living here and seeing this amazing city come to life every day. The pinkish reds evoke warmth, love a trust. Enjoy your view as you gaze upon the enormous ships here at Locust Point in south Baltimore.
